Welcome to ThoughtFog.
What is ThoughtFog?
ThoughtFog is a place for you to anonymously post anything you want to say, whatsoever. Our mission is to convey individual thoughts and feelings, not thoughts and feelings of individuals.
Why are there no names attached to anything?
Blogging has been a true internet revolution. Besides the technical and social aspects of crowd-based news, etc, blogging has also been purposed as a place for individuals to express themselves, tell stories, and have their own little soapbox. The only downside often is that in many cases, the identity of the person is not important. Nor is what they’ve written before. So instead of standard blogging, where context, identity, and previous/future postings can all be tied together, we focus just on the moment. What you are thinking right then, right there. For that reason, we have stripped out all identity-related features of ThoughtFog. No names. No pseudonyms. No contact information. No previous posts. No next posts.
Why are you asking for my email address then?
Since there are no accounts or identification tied to individual posts, it may be hard for you, the author, to keep track of what you have written, or how people have responded. We therefore offer an option for you to enter your e-mail address. Enter in an e-mail address if you would like. We will never give out the e-mail address to anyone, ever, for any reason. We will also only contact you for one of three reasons:
1) When you initially have made the post, where we’ll provide a link to it for future use.
2) When someone comments on your post.
3) If your post has been removed due to offensive content.
Are you truly anonymous?
Nothing is truly anonymous on the internet, kiddo. But we'll say this. Our application does not store any of your information on our database (other than maybe your e-mail, see above). We run standard web server software, which does store metrics on visitors, as any other web server does. We don't mean for this to be a place where you confessed to murdering someone or state your intent on harming someone. We are an anonymous site so people will focus on what you are writing, not you. With that said, if you are truly paranoid, we suggest that you use some third party software. Or maybe just don't use this site, and confess everything to your stuffed unicorn.
What is your Acceptable Use Policy?
We developed ThoughtFog as a place for honest communication and exchange of ideas. To protect users of the site, as well as us. Therefore we have these rules. Ew... rules.
1. You may post only original content authored by you.
2. You may not post copyrighted works, or excerpts of.
3. You will preserve the anonymity of yourself and anyone included in your work.
4. You will not post anything mentioning past, present, or future physical harm to yourself or anyone else.
5. You will not post anything that is offensive to another group of people. No xenophobia, racism, gaybashing, or anything of the sort.
6. By posting to the site, you give up all rights to the content, and allow us to modify, edit, or reproduce it in any way, shape, or form, while preserving your anonymity.
Should you come across a post that you feel violates any of these rules, or is offensive in any other way, please notify us immediately at abuse@thoughtfog.com. Please provide the link to the post, and a short description of why you feel it violates the rules. Thank you.
How can we contact you?
There are two ways to contact us. If you would like everyone to see what you are saying, make a post and tag it with thoughtfog. We browse the site heavily, but pay special attention to things posted with that tag. Your could also drop us an e-mail at central@thoughtfog.com.
Can I talk to you if I'm a member of the press or blogger?
Of course! Drop us an e-mail at central@thoughtfog.com. We'll try and respond within a day or two (most likely a few hours) and answer any of your questions, or arrange a time to further discuss.
Can I advertise on your site?
You can contact us with these questions at advertising@thoughtfog.com.
